The Yobe State Government has announced its plans to facilitate the safe return of the Mafa village’s displaced residents and the restoration of peace.
This comes after the initial attack on the town in September, which resulted in the killing of 34 people.
Governor Mai Mala Buni presided over a high-level security meeting on Wednesday that made the decision.
The purpose of the meeting was to assess the state’s current security arrangements and come up with appropriate countermeasures to avoid future security breaches.
After lengthy discussions behind closed doors, Brigadier General Dahiru Abdulsalam (Rtd), who is the Special Adviser to the Yobe State Governor on Security Matters, summarized the meeting’s main points, including a detailed strategy to relocate displaced people and restore infrastructure.
The entire Mafa and its surroundings would be cleared of any unexploded munitions by a cooperative operation between the military and police, he added.
The entire Magumeri Forest to Damasak in Borno State has to be cleared by aggressive military operations, according to Abdulsalam, who claims the it came down from above.
Following the provision of essential livelihood supports, the state administration intends to relocate the Mafa residents. He promised to return them once everything was done and everything was secure.
The state government is making preparations to allow the displaced Mafa community to harvest their crops soon, according to Brigadier General Dahiru Abdulsalam (Rtd).
You may remember that ISWAP terrorists brutally attacked the Mafa community in Yobe State’s Tarmuwa Local Government Area, murdering numerous inhabitants and destroying dozens of properties. As a result, the Mafa community was forced to relocate.
