On Wednesday, assailants still at large struck Owerri, capital of Imo state, triggering widespread chaos.

Gunmen ambushed patrolling police officers along Orji Road on Monday, killing four and stealing their firearms, according to the WORDOH.

The town’s inhabitants reportedly fled in all directions in fear after hearing random gunfire on Wednesday, prompting the latest wave of attacks.

Rumor has it that the incident occurred at and around the Government House Junction and the Okigwe Road, which stretches from the back of the Imo State University campus to the prominent Ikenegbu district, as well as Wethedral Road, which leads to the Government House.

The gunmen also stormed the Amawusa neighborhood on Douglas Road and the section of Toronto Street that extends to the intersection of MCC Road.

According to Mrs. Roseline Okeke, a fish vendor at Relief Market next to Fire Service Junction, the shooting happened during a stampede.

“When the shooting was going on, everybody ran for dear lives,” Okeke claimed.

Reports indicate that the offenders opened fire near the Fire Service Police Station before making a quick getaway, according to Miss Ukamaka Nwole, a point-of-sale operator at the Fire Service Junction.

It was said that in response to the attacks, a group of police officers used tear gas to intimidate the criminals.

In response, ASP Henry Okoye, spokesman for the Imo Police Command, stated that the criminals had taken a guerilla approach, emerging from their hiding places to launch surprise assaults before vanishing again.

According to Okoye, Aboki Danjuma, the commissioner of police, has charged directly at the assailants.

That the Commissioner of Police had personally dispatched officers to the locations was his statement.

The command has everything under control.

Whether they’re alive or dead, we will bring those responsible for the heinous acts to justice.

As a result, we will punish the criminals who attacked and killed security personnel and innocent bystanders.

Let us urge the people of Imo to notify the authorities of any questionable individuals or actions.

We shall overcome this challenge if we stand united. Peace is essential, imo.
