The State House of Assembly is now reviewing the 2023 Report on the accounts of the 14 Local Government Councils, which was provided by the Zamfara State Auditor General.
According to Worldoh, the Report was discussed at Wednesday’s plenary session.
Honorable Bello Muhammad Mazawaje Tsafe, leader of the House of Representatives, moved to debate the report, and Honorable Adamu Aliyu Gummi, deputy speaker, seconded the motion.
To enable the State parliamentarians to consider and take required steps, Mazawaje emphasized the critical importance of the Auditor General’s financial report on the Local Government Councils.
Hon. Mikailu Aliyu Dangulbi of the Maru South constituency and Hon. Rilwanu Marafa Nagambo of the Anka constituency both stressed the need to review the Report for accuracy and quality before giving their stamp of approval.
In order to guarantee appropriate standards, the MPs proposed that the House Public Accounts Committee be tasked with conducting a thorough analysis of the Report.
Hon. Bilyaminu Ismail Moriki, Speaker of the House, issued a directive to the Public Accounts Committee, following a lengthy debate, to review the Auditor General’s Report and provide suggestions for further steps.
More recently, the House requested that all state agencies furnish its appropriate committees with financial accounts and any other paperwork pertaining to pension payments.
Hon. Rilwanu Marafa Nagambo Anka introduced the bill, and members from the Zurmi East and Birnin Magaji seats, Nura Dahiru Sabon Birini and Hon. Halliru Abdullahi Kuturu, respectively, offered their support.
