Six people have lost their lives due to flooding in the areas surrounding the town of Shuwa in Adamawa State’s Madagali Local Government Area, which was impacted by heavy rainfall.
As a result of the flood, 10,264 people have sought refuge in various camps located in more secure areas.
The unexpected calamity, according to witnesses, wreaked havoc on several settlements, including Kirkinga—the hometown of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri—, Mildu, Duhu, Maiwandu, Maradi, Mayo Wandu, Shuware, Pambla 2, and Palam.
According to reports, the flood that swept away homes, food supplies, and other household possessions as well as farmlands was caused by the strongest rains, which were claimed to have fallen on the neighboring Madara mountain and were followed by further downhill rainfall in other villages.
The destruction of the Shuwa main bridge, which commuters use to cross into neighboring Borno State, is of great importance.
According to one report, 251 residences were completely destroyed while 184 were partially destroyed.
