Michael Ugochukwu Steven, better known by his stage name Ruggedman, is a veteran rapper who has asserted that he is the first young Nigerian artist to possess a vehicle.

He asserted in an Echo Room interview that he had a car before Afrobeats superstars D’banj and P-Square.

“In 2004, I paid N900,000 for my BMW. Before P-Square and D’banj, I was the first young Nigerian artist to purchase a car,” he declared.

“The only musicians signed to Kennis Music at the time who owned cars were those. The autos were not theirs. They were provided them exclusively for official purposes. Back then, Tuface and his labelmates drove the same vehicle.

Ruggedman further asserted that he was “the first young artist back then to print calendars and posters.”
