Over 115 illicit refining installations and 66 boats were destroyed by army personnel who also arrested 22 individuals

The Nigerian Army has apprehended 22 people and destroyed 66 boats in addition to 115 illicit refinery facilities.

The Army announced the seizure of 27 stolen pipelines, 4 pumping machines, 5 unlawful connections clamped, over 170,000 stolen products, and other auxiliary items deactivated in a social media post.

The Division’s soldiers in Bayelsa State raided the swampy Ibidi general area, Twon Brass, Agip Terminal in Brass Local Government Area (LGA). They found and confiscated an illicit refinery site, a generator, a pumping machine, a reservoir, and a large wooden boat laden with stolen refined products—an estimated 90,000 liters worth.

Around Igbomotoru in Southern Ijaw LGA, authorities seized two illicit refineries, a wooden boat, and more over 2,000 goods. Within the same LGA, near Opotoma and Isinugbene, the military disabled two illicit refineries and seized more over 2,500 liters of stolen crude. The text stated

In addition to more than 2,500 liters of stolen crude, the statement claimed that in Southern Ijaw LGA, four illicit refining sites, two wooden boats, and pumping apparatus were seized.

One illicit artisanal refinery was dismantled and more over five thousand barrels of stolen oil were seized in the Okarki forest.

The infamous Imo River was the site of 79 illicit refinery installations, the destruction of 59 wooden vessels, and the recovery of nearly 40,000 stolen products.
