NiMet predicts a three-day window of showers and thunderstorms beginning on Wednesday

From Wednesday through Friday, the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecasted rain and thunderstorms across the nation.

Storms are expected to roll across many states in the early hours of Wednesday, according to the weather forecast issued by NiMet on Tuesday in Abuja. These states include Borno, Jigawa, Yobe Adamawa, Taraba, Kano, Katsina, Zamfara, Kebbi, and Sokoto.

Thunderstorms are predicted to hit several states later today, including Borno, Gombe, Sokoto, Bauchi, Kaduna, Adamawa, Yobe, Taraba, Kebbi, and Yobe.

Next, the North Central area is expected to get mild to moderate rain in the morning over parts of Plateau and Nasarawa states, according to the weather agency.

Parts of the states of Nasarawa, Kwara, Niger, Kogi, Plateau, Benue, and the Federal Capital Territory can expect moderate rain later in the day.

Clouds are forecast to roll in over the southern region, and there’s a chance of light rain in the morning over sections of Cross River and Akwa Ibom states, according to the weather bureau.

Some states in Delta, Ebonyi, Anambra, Rivers, Bayelsa, and Abia were expected to receive rain later that day, according to NiMet.

On Thursday morning, it was projected that thunderstorms will be present across portions of the states of Adamawa, Taraba, Yobe, and Borno.

Thunderstorms are predicted to rage throughout several states this afternoon and evening, including Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, Kaduna, Bauchi, Adamawa, Taraba, and Borno.

Parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Niger, Nasarawa, and Plateau States may have light to moderate rain in the morning hours, according to NiMet’s North Central area forecast.

The weather bureau has predicted moderate rainfall for portions of the FCT, Nasarawa, Kogi, and Plateau States later that day.

Parts of the states of Edo, Ekiti, Ebonyi, Osun, Abia, Enugu, Cross, and Rivers were expected to receive rain in the morning, while the southern states were expected to see mostly cloudy weather.

Parts of the states of Sokoto, Kebbi, Borno, and Yobe are likely to see thunderstorms in the morning hours of Friday.

Parts of the states of Borno, Adamawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Taraba, and Kaduna can expect thunderstorms later in the day.

Clouds will roll across the North Central region first thing in the morning, and then thunderstorms could hit portions of the FCT, Niger, Benue, Nasarawa, and Plateau States later on.

A cloudy sky and possible rain in the southern area is predicted by NiMet for the afternoon and evening hours. This could affect parts of the states of Osun, Oyo, Ebonyi, Enugu, Rivers, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Delta.

Heavy rains increase the risk of urban flooding in large cities, therefore the agency warned people to stay away from flood-prone locations.
