In the Tasake hamlet, Ungwan Mayana area of Gayam Ward, Birnin Gwari Local Government Area, Kaduna State, two officers of the Kaduna Vigilantes Service, KADVS, were ambushed and slain by bandits.
In an effort to safeguard farmers, the vigilante officers met their demise.
According to an insider who spoke with Worldoh, two farmers from the area were killed in the raid, while scores more were kidnapped. Among them was Amina Adamu, who was on her way back from Buruku, where she had taken her daughter for medical care on Tuesday night.
According to the source, the victims’ vehicle came to a halt on a bridge within Kwaga village in Gayam ward at about 4:30 in the afternoon.
Some passengers in another car were able to escape, but Amina and her ill daughter were reportedly abducted along with an unknown number of others.
“In a village called Tasake in the Ungwan Mayana area of Gayam ward in the Birnin Gwari LGA, a group of terrorists started shooting around 11:00 am and noon,” reads the source.
He continued by saying that some of the terrorists were engaged and killed by KADVS, while others fled the scene of the crime.
It was a shame the bandits ambushed the vigilantes. “In addition to Yahaya Nasafe and Yakubu Umar, two other farmers were also killed,” he added.
He claims that the only way to address the ongoing security concerns is with a combined offensive military campaign against the terrorists’ hideouts.
Additionally, he pleaded with the National Communication Commission to keep an eye on the bandits’ communications so that security authorities can find them, disconnect their lines, and use that information to their advantage.
An official from the Kaduna State Police Command named Mansir Hassan promised to respond to the story when it was appropriate when approached.
