The state’s Aba South Local Government Area (LGA) has reported that the Abia State Harmonized Task Force (ABSHT) has removed homeless people and beggars from Bata Junction.
The Nigerian Immigration Service has been informed about the transfer of the evacuees, who are all foreign nationals, according to Worldoh.
While the remaining beggars were brought to a rehabilitation center, the ones from Nigeria were returned to their towns and given to their respective leaders.
According to a press release issued by the ABSHT on Tuesday, a team from Aba south, headed by Mr. Uchechukwu Wogu, the mayor of Aba south, was able to effectively remove the beggars from the area at Bata Junction, Aba, Owerri Road.
We need to get these homeless people out of here since they’ve been a nuisance and a source of random accidents.
Not only were Nigerians and non-Nigerians evacuated, but the non-Nigerians were turned over to the Immigration Service.
On the other hand, the Nigerians were returned to their respective community leaders and the rest were sent to a rehabilitation center, according to the statement.
“The Abia State government had initially announced the restriction of nefarious activities that obstruct movement and free flow of traffic on roads,” the statement observed.
“Our roads will be brought back to sanity and the menace of unnecessary obstruction in the environment will be reduced,” declared the Abia State Harmonized Taskforce.
