Governor Muhammadu Yahaya of Gombe State and Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) has denounced the recent tragic attack in Mafa, Tarmuwa Local Government Area, Yobe State.

Shops and houses in the neighborhood were looted and burned down in the attack, which was allegedly carried out by Boko Haram fighters.

Ismaila Misilli, the Director-General of Press Affairs at the Gombe Government House, released a press statement on Wednesday in which Yahaya characterized the attack as a “senseless act of violence” that has caused great suffering to the families and communities impacted.

While praising the security forces’ efforts to root out criminal organizations, Yahaya stressed the critical need of stepping up operations to apprehend and punish those responsible.

“Someone must pay the price for this heinous crime. “I demand that the security agencies step up their efforts and make sure that those responsible are brought to justice shortly,” he said.

The northern governors’ dedication to assisting efforts to restore peace and security in the region was underlined by the NSGF Chairman. To stop these tragedies from happening again, he said, we must all work together.

Yahaya sent the sympathies of the forum to the relatives of the deceased and the Yobe State administration, wishing the injured a quick recovery and praying for the souls of the departed to rest in peace.
