President Bola Ahmed is primarily concerned with protecting the progress his administration has made over the last fifteen months, according to Minister of Finance Wale Edun, in the lead-up to the scheduled August 1, 2024, hardship protest.
This was revealed by Edun during a news conference in Abuja on Wednesday.
So that Nigeria’s economic recovery momentum doesn’t get derailed, he claims the president wants the protests to remain peaceful.
Edun said that Tinubu is listening to Nigerians’ problems and is working nonstop to find long-term answers.
He hopes the demonstrations will keep to a peaceful and organized format so that the progress of the last twelve to fifteen months doesn’t go down the drain. The Nigerian economy must maintain its current trajectory and not let its momentum dwindle.
According to him, the president, like many other concerned Nigerians, “truly understands the concerns that are being expressed,” especially on the high and limited cost of living, which is currently detrimental to Nigeria.
The minister made the statement just hours before the nationwide demonstration scheduled for August 1st.
