The current winners of the UEFA Champions League have reached out to González’s loved ones to offer their sympathies on his passing.

The Los Blancos expressed their sorrow at González’s untimely death at the age of 80 in a statement sent through their website.

The passing of Eduardo “Chato” González, a Real Madrid player from 1966 to 1969, is deeply regretted by the club, its president, and the board of directors.

The entire Real Madrid family, as well as his teammates, clubs, and friends, have our deepest sympathies and love.

The 80-year-old Eduardo “Chato” González has died. “May he rest in peace,” read the statement from Real Madrid.

While González was a player, he won three LaLiga championships.
