Officer David Sangokoya of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) was presented with the esteemed International Sword of Honour for 2023 at the Royal Air Force College Cranwell (RAFCC) in the UK.

An official Facebook post from the Nigerian Air Force announced the honor on Friday, with the headline “NAF Officer Awarded 2023 International Sword of Honour at RAF College Cranwell UK.”

The most outstanding cadet from outside of the United States was Flying Officer Sangokoya, who was a part of MIOT Course 22 from March to September 2023.

The RAFCC graduates up to eight classes a year, and this prize is given to the best international cadet from among them.

During the Royal Graduation ceremony on September 12, 2024, His Royal Highness, Prince William, speaking on behalf of King Charles III, gave the Sword of Honour to Sangokoya.

Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, the Chief of the Air Staff, thanked Flying Officer Sangokoya and lauded his perseverance and hard work in response to the officer’s accomplishment.

The officer’s dedication and focus during training were acknowledged with this prestigious award, which the NAF is justifiably proud of, according to Abubakar. The achievement is a source of pride for the Air Force and Nigeria as a whole.

Air Marshal Abubakar praised Sangokoya’s family for their constant support and encouragement, and he also recognized the role they played in his accomplishment.
