Big Vic: “Asake bigger than Olamide”

According to well-known media personality Big Vic, YBNL Nation CEO and master rapper Olamide is no longer as good an artist as vocalist Asake.

During a recent “Ctdamongblacks” podcast episode, he stated:

“Asake is currently more prominent than Olamide.” I’m talking about the present, not about lifelong accomplishment. Asake is currently more successful in terms of connections, collaborations, and sold-out performances.

Olamide had the option to forgo making as large of an investment in him, but he did so since he understood that Asake’s success would benefit him.

He claimed that since they are worried about being surpassed by someone else, musicians from the Southeast are not assisting their relatives in becoming successful musicians like their counterparts from the Southwest.

He counseled Igbo musicians to follow in the footsteps of their Yoruba counterparts by making greater investments in emerging artists from their area.

The Worldoh notes that Asake had previously disclosed that, prior to Olamide agreeing to sign him to his record label, he pleaded for about two years.

YBNL Nation signed Asake in February of 2022. In the same month, he released his first extended play, “Ololade,” which included the single “Sungba” and his breakout hit, “Omo Ope,” with Olamide.
