According to the Police Service Commission, 31 ACPs have been promoted to the position of Deputy Commissioner of Police.
The decision to approve and promote the senior officers was made during the first preliminary meeting of the commission, which was headed by DIG Hashimu Argungu, according to a statement released on Sunday by Head of Press and Public Relations Ikechukwu Ani.
The following officers were promoted from the rank of ACP to DCP:
Godspower Origho, Area Commander, Kabba, Kogi State Command; Abubakar Argungu Ibrahim, Coordinator BPU, Sokoto State Command;
Kabiru Ibrahim, Department of Operations, Cross Rivers State Command; Ochiabutor Ejike, Department of Operations, Enugu State Command;
Danladi Ibrahim, Area Commander, Kafanchan; John Amaechi Ngwoye, Department of Operations, Ondo State Command;
Sulieman Salihu, Department of Operations, Bauchi State Command; and Udeme Stephen, Area Commander, Ngor Okpalla, Imo State Command, among others.
A total of 505 Superintendents of Police were promoted to the position of Chief Superintendent by the Commission, according to the statement.
Officers Raphael Iwamittigha Irowainu, Abraham Ogedegbe, Stanley Chinenye Onyekwele, Yakubu Faruk Rugga, Godspower Ekeke, and Esther Ezenwanyi Okey were among those named in the promotion announcement.
The newly promoted officers were congratulated by the Chairman of the Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu, who also promised to establish a police force worthy of the name.
He admonished the officers to serve their country with patriotism.
